Qatar Goodwood Festival Fashion Recap
As I sit at my computer staring out of the window into the mist, my mind started to wander, replaying the memories of the 2016 Qatar Goodwood Festival. What seems like a lifetime ago was in fact less than two months ago, and I cannot believe I have not found the time to post my outfits from such a wonderful week.
If you follow my social media channels you will have been kept up to date with the beautiful foals and yearlings from Crimbourne Stud to the excitement of the Magnolia cup and finishing off with the L'ormarins day when I showcased the incredible Spode Blue Italian hat. Tuesday
The Crimbourne Stud open morning is the perfect start to the Qatar Goodwood Festival.
The team at Crimbourne Stud do a fantastic job prepping the horses for the sale, and not to mention the work that must go into maintaining the perfectly manicured flower beds and lawns that surround the stables.
It is hard not to fall in love with every horse that you see at Crimbourne Stud. Each horse is immaculately turned out, incredibly well bred and impeccably well behaved.
This year my personal favourites were a Sea The Stars Filly which went to the Arqana August sale, a Poets Voice Colt and A Champs Elysees Colt which both went to the Baden Baden September sale.
When choosing my outfit for Tuesday, practicality was a definite factor. It was to be a long day, as we were collected from West Marden Farm House at 9am to ensure we arrived promptly at Crimbourne. Following the Open Morning at Crimbourne Stud, we were guests for lunch of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, which meant a large hat was definitely out of the question.
Jayne Jackson wore an on trend linen suit and white Versace shirt which had a leopard print insert around the collar and cuffs - (A perfect shirt to carry you all the way through AW16 into SS17 for AW leopard print trend.)

It was lovely to see some of Scott's owners Mr & Mrs Chappell whose homebred horse Thesme ran a brave race in the 4:20 and was only narrowly defeated by Boom The Groom. Mrs Chappell always looks fantastic at the races - She is pictured wearing a Jenny Roberts Millinery red snakeskin hat adorned with red silk and velvet flowers and spotted lace which perfectly complimented her Rosa Striped dress from Phase Eight (Click Here to buy this dress)
Jayne and I even managed to make it onto CNN News
We had a fantastic first day catching up new and old friends. The view from the ITM box was superb and I must thank Eimear Chance for hosting us, we look forward to visiting her in and ITM in Ireland for the September sales. Our Day was then completed with a lovely dinner at The Kennels.
Wednesday
Wednesday is not only race day but it is also the day of the Goodwood Regency Ball, so we tend to leave before the last race to give us enough time to get ready, although it always ends in a mad rush.
Vivien Sherrif supplied this wonderful Dominica hat which was so light and comfortable to wear I hardly even knew I was wearing it.
Hat - Dominica - Vivien Sheriff
Dress - Ted Baker
Clutch Bag - ASOS
Shoes - Steve Maden
My hairstyle was simple to achieve using a hair roll from ASOS and would be a perfect updo for a ball or wedding.
We spent most of the day in the Owners and Trainers area over looking the parade ring.

Even though we had no runners on Wednesday we had a great time with some of our lovely owners, I even bumped into one of the members of the Friday Follies on my way out of the course. Bernie Gill looked fantastic wearing a cobalt blue outfit from Incognito of Bawtry
Off To The Ball We Go
We opted for ordinary black tie this year! For those of you who are new to my blog you may not know that last year we went all out in Regency Dress (Click Here to take a look)
The Goodwood ball is such a splendid affair I chose to have my dress made specifically for the occasion to ensure that no one else was wearing the same dress. Pictured above with Loren Taylor and Camilla Henderson.
This years act was Alison Moyet followed by a brilliant DJ that kept us dancing into the early hours of the morning.
Thursday - Magnolia Cup Ladies Day
Thursday is always a very exciting day. Not only is it ladies day it is also host to the Magnolia Cup. The Magnolia Cup is an all female field consisting of high profile business women from many different industries. All of the bespoke silks are different each year and are designed specifically for the occasion by some of the most prominent female fashion designers.
Before the race we were invited to Goodwood House to enjoy drinks and canapes.
The race is as exhilarating as it is stylish. Event rider Izzy Taylor won this years Magnolia Cup in a close fought race with the most experienced rider CEO of TalkTalk, Dido Harding, who rode Armelle owned by the Friday Follies and trained by Scott. This is the second consecutive year Dido and Armelle have finished 3rd let's hope they can go one better next year.
COO, Bank of England Charlotte Hogg also put in a sterling effort aboard Spowarticus owner by the PJ Dixon & Partners syndicate. This was Charlotte's first year riding in the Magnolia cup, Charlotte raced on the far side of the track which cut her out the of the photo finish picture, we still think she definitely finished in the top three. Even the television camera's had her as the winner, but it wasn't meant to be. I am sure Charlotte will be back for another shot at winning the Magnolia Cup next year.

Scott was incredibly proud of both Charlotte and Dido's efforts in the race and is looking forward to providing them horses for next years race. All of the ladies involved put in a Stirling effort training for the race and raising money for Best Beginnings and World Vision, this high profile race had already raised over £1 million for charity before the 2016 race.
I loved my outfit from Royal Ascot so much I just had to wear it again. Jenny Roberts Millinery hand made each flower on my hat to match my Dolce and Gabana lace dress to perfection.

Following the Race all of the owners and riders are invited to the Sussex suite for lunch and to watch the remaining races.
Louise Chappell is also wearing a Jenny Roberts hat.
I feel that Friday deserves a blog post all to itself so keep an eye out for a special blog post next week dedicated to L'omarins day and the Jenny Roberts Spode Blue Italian Hat.
