Darley Stallion Parade

What can only be classed as one of "the" events of the season must be the Darley Stallion Parade. This event takes place at the sensational site of some of the most superb stallions in the world Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket. The home of the Darley breeding operation.

These glorious and often priceless stallions are paraded on manicured paddocks to invited guests - who have the opportunity to see these equine superstars up close and personal. This parade coming after the covering season has closed is the last hurrah before many of them are shuttled to stand in the Southern hemisphere. Breeders can start to make plans for next year - judged on what they see on the day, having the opportunity to see the conformation freedom of action and temperament - as well as the pedigree all of which is so important when making the decision to send one or several mares to the selected stallions.

The gorgeous grounds manicured to perfection play host to a truly memorable annual event. Darley are world renowned for quality - not only of their racehorses - but also their stallions and breeding operation. If this was not enough - the feast they provide at the "brunch" and the selection of treats from around the world is something quite unparalleled. From sushi to sandwiches, langoustines to lemon pie, full english to french vanilla ice cream and everything in between.

What is the lasting impression is how well the stallions behave and the unique bond each has with his own personal stallion man. The team of staff are so friendly and enjoy nothing more than a chat about their special charges. We have been lucky enough to be invited once again this year and I am so looking forward particularly to spending the day with our long term owners Andrew and Bernie Baker along with Andrew and Sharron Timms. who have also been invited. I am so excited at seeing some well known stallions and some which are new to me, and look forward to enjoying picking my personal favourite and maybe getting up close and personal with the next super star sire at Darley.

Of course the choice on what to wear - with racing afterwards has to be considered. The gentleman by then are mainly in linen suits and panamas, with the ladies looking stunning in summer dresses - a mac is always a good idea in case of a summer storm or shower and Darley thoughtfully provide their Darley brollies in their classic blue livery so we do not lose a moment checking out the stallions if the rain comes. 

Not even our infamous Summer weather can mar this super day and I can only imagine that everyone invited is as equally looking forward to the event as I know I am.
