What A Wonderful Weekend
I cannot believe it's friday already!! I have no idea where this week has gone, especially after such a hectic but wonderful weekend.
Unusually Scott had no horses running on Saturday or Sunday, so it was left to Pearl Noir (aka Charlie) and our apprentice Matthew Hopkins, who were in the 5:50 at Wolverhampton to not only get the yard out of a quiet spell, but to also allow the whole team to start the weekend on a high!! Friday nights normally consist of a couple of drinks with some of our owners in The White Horse Inn. So this is where I headed after work, to watch the race with a large group of his partners. Matthew and Charlie clearly gave their very best efforts, as Pearl Noir ran a fine race. He usually enjoys a front running style, however the pace was furious, and on this occasion he came from off the pace and Matthew seeing an enviable position down the middle of the course made a race winning man-oeuvre.
Much fun and laughter was enjoyed by all after the successful victory, and it was fantastic for the whole team that the lustre in the yard was brought back in such fine style. With a real home style win by home bred Pearl Noir, our own Matthew and Emma, accompanied with some great support on course by loyal owner David Slack for the Scott Dixon Racing Team.
Saturday saw not one but two beautiful brides. After an early start being 'gallop girlfriend' and helping clean the office, (I told you it wasn't all Royal Ascot glamour) it was now time to get ready for our first wedding of the day.
Scott's cousin Luke and his lovely fiancee Liz were getting married at The Millennium Gallery in Sheffield. It was such a perfect wedding from the spiced rum and personalised coca cola bottle wedding favours, to the bride literally taking everyone's breath away as she walked down the aisle. Luke should not be left out either as he looked extremely dapper wearing a brown tweed three piece suit, with tan brogues. The only person who could possibly upstage him was the youngest member of the Dixon family, Frank who was wearing a brown tweed suit with a matching bow tie. 100% the best dressed gent at the wedding.
Unfortunately we had to leave before the evening reception got under way. So it was into the taxi and off to Hodsock Priory, where Kara and Graham who run The White Horse were celebrating their wedding. Again the colour scheme was orange, perfect for the autumnal weather. The bride looked beautiful and the groom looked great in a blue suit and orange floral tie. After watching their first dance, which had an added surprise from Graham who showed off his break dancing skills to Sean Paul - Dangerous Love. All that was left was for us to join the bride and groom on the dance floor, and dance the night away.

Scott and I were determined to make the most of our weekend off, so when awaking surprisingly early and fresh, we decided to head to the cinema and watch Gone Girl. I wont spoil the plot but it is definitely worth a trip to the cinema, although it is a little on the long side. Which made us late for lunch at The White Houses. It is a rare occasion that all of the Dixon family and their partners make it for lunch, as Izzy and her boyfriend James, (Scott's sister) lives in London and Josh's (Scotts brother) girlfriend is at university at huddersfield. So lunch was made all the more special having everyone together for the second day in a row. The White Houses really is the best restaurant for miles so if you are ever in the area definitely book in for a culinary treat.
It was now time for a quick change into our "finary" as we had been kindly been invited, to Robinsons of Bawtry' charity fashion show at the China Rose.

It was an incredible evening in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research, which is a fantastic cause that is sure to affect each and everyone of us in some way or another throughout our lifetime.
There was some wonderful fashion on display, in what was a showstopping fashion show. I'm sure everyone went home thinking of at least one item on their wish list (Even if it was the scantily clad male models). I'm still thinking about a tartan Ralph Lauren dress teamed with a blazer and green scarf (shown below).
It really was a fantastic evening topped off with excellent food, great music and fabulous company. Congratulations must go to the Robinsons team who put on a wonderful evening and raised over £27,000 for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
I literally do not think Scott and I could have fitted anymore into one weekend if we had tried. This weekend looks a little quieter, with a trip to Wolverhampton with Pearl Noir and Sunday Lunch at The White Houses with some owners. But you never know all could change!!
With Love
Rebecca
